What Happens to Israel in Prophecy?

In the time leading up to the Rapture of the Church, Israel is completely decimated

Israel will be completely overrun by Gentiles in the last days leading up to the return of Jesus in Revelation 19:11-21.  There are several scriptures that discuss Israel in prophecy.  None of them speak of anything good happening to Israel in the last days.

Joel 3:1-3 speaks of judgment on the nations for what they (the enemies of Israel) did to God’s people. Verse 3 says that boys were given as payment for a harlot and girls were sold for wine.

The prophet Zechariah speaks of Israel being decimated by its enemies. Zechariah 13: 8-9 speaks of 2/3 of Israel being cut off to die and the remaining third refined through fire. A truly devastating time for Israel.

Zechariah speaks of more devastation in chapter 14. In Zechariah 14:1-5 the nations will be gathered against Jerusalem, the city will be taken, houses ransacked, and the women raped. Half of the city will go into captivity. Again, a devastating time for Israel.

Jesus in Matthew 24 speaks to his disciples and tells them how terrible it will be for Jerusalem when the Antichrist comes to power and his image is put on display in the temple of God. Matthew 24:15-22 is a warning to flee because of tribulation that has not been seen since the beginning of time.

Revelation 11:1-2 speaks to the fact that Jerusalem has been overrun by Gentiles and that it has been given to them to trample on for 42 months.

Revelation 12:7-12 describes the war in heaven which results in the devil (the dragon) being thrown down to the earth. There is a warning here which states that when the devil realizes he has been thrown down to earth he knows his time is short and that he has great wrath because he knows his time is running out.
